Good Taste Noodle House

Good Taste Noodle House offers up some fairly authentic Chinese noodles, wontons, soups, and roasted meat in an unassuming strip mall out on 82nd. Overall, the meat flavors and broths are about as complex and nuanced as the name of the joint, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing sometimes. What makes this place authentic (to some of the noodle-house food I had in China) is the simplicity. The menu at good taste focuses on roast meat + noodles + broth. The highlight (for me) would be some of the roast meats and the wontons, which are hand-made and bursting with shrimpy, porky goodness. For $9 you can score a deluxe bowl of soup with wontons, crispy pork, bbq pork, duck, noodles, and a baby bok choy. The broth is meaty, greasy, and salty, but it really hits the spot when you’re in the mood for it. Don’t go in expecting some fancy, deep, complex lemongrass-infused, broth or anything… this is a simple meat stock with noodles and chunks of meat from the carcasses proudly displayed in the front window.I’m usually he guy looking for crazy spicy broth that’s bursting with flavor… but the plain vanilla of this place calls to me sometimes when what I’m looking for is a basic, yet delicious, meal. Plus, they offer the best wontons I’ve had in PDX. Plus, it’s about a block from my place.
